Why We Focus on Seasons
Back in 2019, Kryzhel noticed something during her work with local families. January budgets looked completely different from December ones. Rainy season expenses weren't the same as summer costs. But most financial advice pretended money was the same all year round.
We started documenting these patterns. Talking to jeepney drivers who earn less during floods. Teachers who budget differently during vacation months. Small business owners whose sales peak during certain festivals. Everyone had their own financial seasons.
That's when we realized traditional budgeting advice missed something important. Money isn't steady for most people. So why should financial plans pretend it is?
